Telco Project Director - Malaysia

The Telco Project Director will be stationed at the assigned customer's premises in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur geographic area). This position will have two on location Resident Engineers reporting to him/her and will be a critical link in communicating to the company's corporate offices in the United States.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Work with multiple, cross-functional teams to ensure the successful definition, delivery, commercialization, and maintenance of products.
- Work with the Sales and Support Teams to manage and communicate customer commitments and expectations.
- Develop and make presentations to both internal and external customers and support sales efforts to win new customers.
- Occasionally, participate in RFP reviews and responses.
- Own project planning activities and create project schedules in collaboration with the Sales, Marketing and Engineering teams.
- Contribute to the overall planning of projects by recommending approaches, identifying resources, developing timelines, and producing and documenting plans.
- Serve as a key liaison for customer projects and serve in the role of project manager for special, highly visible projects. Leverage Analytical Skills to mold product deliveries into a schedule with defined phases and clear milestones.
- Coordinate global schedules, taking into account product dependencies.
- Produce detailed schedules using Microsoft Project to plan, track and communicate product deliverables.
- Own and coordinate multiple products at a cross-functional level, coordinating with multiple organizations, including Product Management, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Technical Publications, Marketing, and Technical Support.
- Track and report priorities, schedule and current status of deliverables to both internal management and the sales and support teams.
- Participate in Product and Program Management Team activities to define and improve internal processes. Provide a standard process for change requests and review criteria for incorporating updates to existing project plans.
- Display a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Education
- B.A., B.S., or M.S. in Computer Science, or Related Software Field
Experience
- Application software implementation (Commercial Software experience preferred)
- Project Management and Technical Support
- IT networking or Telecommunications experience
- Detailed experience with project management methodologies and associated tools
Required Skills
- Must be proficient with verbal and written communication using the English Language and Bahasa Malaysia Language.
- Ability to effectively function in a fast paced and mission critical environment
- Willingness and ability to rapidly learn new technologies and tool sets
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask and exert time management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Project
- Ability to travel for varying periods of time
Desired Skills
- Project Management Certification
- Prior Network Management Software Operational or Support Experience
- Prior Service Provider Operational Experience
- Knowledge/Understanding of the following data network technologies (Including Ethernet, SNMP, VPNs, VLANs, MPLS, and IP-Based QOS) International Project Management Experience (manage a global team)
