What: Scott Golding, VP Product Management, OSS, Dorado Software, Inc. speaking in the OAM and Management Session at the MEF’s Ethernet Wholesale Summit, held from 9 to 12 February 2010.

Topic: “Managing the Complexity of Mobile Backhaul Network and Service Management.

Why:  As access, data traffic and customer service demands grow exponentially, in addition to the migration to Ethernet and requirements imposed by 2G/3G/4G Radio Access Networks and services,  the mobile backhaul network operational complexity is, not surprisingly, also increasing. For example, Service Providers are dealing with numerous Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while at the same time managing a variety of multi-vendor network elements.

Mr. Golding will examine the requirements for managing todays and tomorrow's mobile backhaul network and services, including describing an extensible and scalable architecture that consists of resource management for traditional FCAPs and flexible, cost-effective backhaul service configuration and activation. He will discuss specific network and service management requirements including: Class of Service requirements aligned with 3GPP, 3GPP2 and 802.16/WiMAX based services, other classes for OAM, control traffic, and Synchronization; performance, reliability and availability requirements, monitoring Ethernet services, and enabling Service Providers to customize their service offerings.
